Methyl-Parahydroxybenzoate IP (Preservative) 0.135 % w/v
Propyl-Parahydroxybenzoate IP (Preservative) 0.015 % w/v

Description / Action:
Avilin vet (Pheniramine Maleate) injection is one of many antihistaminic compounds. Avilin is noteworthy for its potent, rapid and prolonged action as well as for its excellent tolerance.
Class: Anti-histaminic, Anti-Allergic
Indication / Uses:
An allergic reaction is assumed to be the cause of the following diseases or symptoms in veterinary medicine:
Itching of unknown genesis and of various localisation,
Eczema, dermatitis, urticaria, skin oedema, tail eczema in horses, photodermatitis,
Insect bites, rhinitis, stomatitis,
Laminitis, toxic hoof corns and inflammation of the hooves of cattle,
Paresis during pregnancy, Serum shock, puerperal toxemia and secondary retention,
Pulmonary emphysema in horses, pulmonary oedema in cattle,
The efficacy of Avilin has also been demonstrated in drug allergies, anaphylactic shock,
Toxic hypopepsia, bloat in ruminants due to histamine atony of the rumen and
Also in the treatment of acute septic metritis in cows in conjunction with anti-bacterial therapy.
Dosage and administration:
The dosage should be adjusted individually. If possible, small doses are given first because it has often been shown that anti-allergic drugs are effective in comparatively smaller dosage.
Large animals: 5-10 ml or more
Small animals: 1/2 – 1 ml or more
Avilin may be administered intramuscularly or intravenously. It has immediate onset of action on intravenous administration. On intramuscular administration, it takes about 10-20 minutes for the effect to set in.
Administration may be repeated after 8-12 hours, if necessary.
Overdoses / Side effects / Contraindications /Warnings:
Use smaller dosage initially as they are more effective. May cause mild sedation. Side effects and contra-indications are not warned by the manufacturer on product information leaflet or brochure. Please follow the dosage judiciously.

Store protected from light. Not for human use for animal treatment only. Schedule G prescription drug.
For the use only of a veterinarian or a hospital or a laboratory or a farm.
Read enclosed insert carefully before use. The maximum number of pricks should be kept limited to 10.
Safety: Age / Pregnancy:
No information available. It is dangerous to take this preparation except under veterinarian’s supervision. Use with caution in cases with urinary retention, angle closure glaucoma and pyloroduodenal obstruction (Chlorpheniramine).
